Mammoplasty & Mastopexy
Mammoplasty:
Procedure to increase breast size using silicone implants
Incisions can be made in the inframammary fold, around the areola or in the armpit
Implants are placed in pockets created behind the breast tissue or under the pectoral muscle
Mastopexia (Breast Lift):
Procedure to lift and reshape sagging breasts, without necessarily changing their volume
Removes excess skin and repositions the nipple-areola complex
Different types of incision (periareolar, vertical or anchor) depending on the degree of sagging
Difference:
Mammoplasty focuses on increasing volume, while mastopexy focuses on lifting and reshaping. They are often performed together in procedures called "mastopexy with implants."
