Post Bariatric Surgery
Bariatric surgery is a procedure that reduces the size of the stomach to reduce food intake and reverse cases of obesity and the diseases that result from it. With the weight loss resulting from the surgery, it is common for there to be a large volume of skin and sagging in the breasts, abdomen, arms, buttocks and thighs, leaving the body with no defined silhouette and with great difficulty connecting with its own body.
Indication
Indicated for people who have undergone gastric reduction surgery and lost a lot of weight, resulting in excess hanging skin and sagging.
What surgeries are included?
The surgery to remove excess skin depends on each person's needs and the procedures can be performed in combination or individually to improve the patient's aesthetics and quality of life.
Abdominoplasty: removes excess skin from the abdomen and can be combined with liposuction to give better contours to the waist. In cases of diastasis (distension of the rectus abdominis muscle), correction will be performed.
Mastopexy: a procedure that lifts the breasts, repositioning them to their original location without excess skin or fat. This procedure can be performed with or without silicone implants.
Arm and thigh lift: removes localized skin and fat in these areas, giving better harmony to the rest of the body that has undergone transformation.
Face lift: removes excess skin and fat that falls over the eyes, cheeks and neck, and also improves wrinkles, expression lines and facial creases.
What is the post-operative period like?
The post-operative period depends on the interventions that were performed, but in general, recovery is quick if you follow your doctor's instructions. You must rest, wear elastic mesh on your abdomen and special bras for at least one month, avoid exertion or physical activities, and avoid sun exposure for three months.
