Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty, also known as "abdominal repair surgery" or "tummy tuck", is a complex surgical procedure designed to reshape the abdominal region by removing excess skin and fat, as well as correcting weakened or separated abdominal muscles.

Main indications:

  • After pregnancy (especially multiple) that caused muscle distension (diastasis)

  • After major weight loss with consequent abdominal sagging

  • Abdominal sagging related to aging

  • Correction of associated umbilical or incisional hernias

Types of abdominoplasty:

  • Full abdominoplasty: A more comprehensive approach that treats the entire abdomen, from the pubis to the sternum, including umbilical repositioning.

  • Mini-abdominoplasty: Treats only the region below the navel, with a smaller incision and without umbilical repositioning.

  • Anchor abdominoplasty: Used for patients after major weight loss, with an additional vertical incision.

  • Reverse abdominoplasty: Focuses on treating the upper region of the abdomen, with a submammary incision.

  • Circumferential abdominoplasty: Combines traditional abdominoplasty with thigh and buttock lift.

Recovery and care:

  • Semi-flexed position for 1-2 weeks to reduce tension on the suture

  • Use of compression garment for 6-8 weeks

  • Restriction of physical activities for 6-12 weeks

  • Scar care for 12 months (silicone, sun protection)

  • Final results visible after 6-12 months when all residual edema disappears
